about.
Our first show, WHEN IT HAPPENS enjoyed a successful three-night scratch run at The Tristan Bates Theatre before being reprogrammed there for a week-long run as a part of the Camden Fringe 2019.
The show was very well received and was one of the ten top anticipated shows of the fringe on the StageDoor app, before receiving several five-star reviews. The show was then Off West End OFFIE nominated for Best Play in a Short Run.
Our second show, PLEASE, FEEL FREE TO SHARE was just awarded Special Mention for The Popcorn New Writing Award 2021
and first enjoyed a three-night scratch run at the Tristan Bates Theatre as a part of the Maiden Speech Festival in November 2019, followed by a sold-out run at Theatre 503 for their Resets Festival 2021. It has now been programmed as the first of a Scatterjam double-bill at VAULT 2022, followed by a full run at The Pleasance Courtyard at Edinbrugh Festival.
Our newest play, DOXXX was programmed at VAULT 2022, and is now in development to be staged in 2023.
Our first short film, STALEMATE, was shot in March 2022 and is now in post-production.
Scatterjam is a performance production company, founded by writer and performer Rachel Causer and perfomer/producer Róisín Bevan after they meeting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
The rest of the company is made up of a team of associate artists who have a broad field of expertise. As a company, we are committed to creating exciting female-led work that is socially and politically engaged whilst being physically and structurally explorative. FOR WHEN IT HAPPENS
★★★★★
“The script is totally brilliant and confounds expectations…The writing is by turns anarchic, explosive but by the end of the piece, empowering and fun” – Spy In The Stalls
★★★★★
"Every aspect of this tumultuous, engaging, relatable and emotive performance was expertly arranged and masterfully played. Never has a set of words from someone’s mouth made me feel so seen, so comforted and so liberated. When It Happens excellently reflects what theatre should always aim to be" - The Medium
★★★★★
“Had me in absolute hysterics one moment and on the edge of my seat the next”- Within Her Words
"EXCELLENT SHOW" ★★★★★
“Well written, well-acted and well-staged. It fulfills its purpose as an entertaining piece of theatre and it may well leave some of the audience thinking and questioning. - Fringe Review
★★★★
“Emotionally-astute observations and engaging performances - an entertaining and insightful combination” - Breaking The Fourth Wall
★★★★
“Eloquent writing, electric performances - definetly not one to miss!" - LondonTheatreGal
★★★★
“This is a piece that excels on multi-levels and has had me smiling long after I left the theatre - that rare occurrence when there is a joyous synergy between writer, actor, director and audience." - The Review Chap
★★★★
“Causer writes a caustic comedy with all the sweet spots of the feminist revolution…The show is a joyous, smart and thoroughly riotous piece of theatre” - Broadway World
“When it Happens” feels very timely, and it has made me think a lot about female complicity (via acceptance) of everyday sexism, and unrealistic images of motherhood" -

"Causer's writing is always brilliantly clever, and Please, Feel Free To Share is no exception to this rule. It is an excellent commentary on the extreme nature of social media and instant gratification of things such as the Like button and similar online" - Within Her Words
★★★★
"Energetic, Entertaining and Engaging. This is the second play I’ve seen by Rachel Causer and I am definitely a fan of her darkly comic writing style.”
- LondonTheatreGal
"Once again Causer shows just how skilfully she creates and writes original female characters. Her writing is packed with a dark humour that Róisín Bevan brings to life with an at times unnerving verve." - The View from The Outside
